Microphone-based tools. Six tools on VocalRangeCalculator.com — the Vocal Range Calculator, Vocal Range Tester, Voice Type Test, Pitch Detector, Octave Range Test, Vocal Range Comparison, and Vocal Register Test — require access to your device microphone to detect vocal pitch in real time.

When these tools are in use:

The Frequency to Note Converter. The Frequency to Note Converter does not use your microphone and captures no audio data of any kind. It performs a pure mathematical calculation on a frequency value you type. No audio privacy considerations apply to this tool.

If you deny microphone access, you can still access all educational content, singer range articles, career guides, and the Frequency to Note Converter without restriction. Only the six microphone-based tools require permission.
