Vocal Range & Singing Tools

Free online tools for singers. Measure your vocal range, find your voice type, check which note you are singing, convert a frequency to a note and work out intervals, semitones and octaves. Every tool runs in your browser on phones and computers, with no sign-up and no download. The microphone tools analyse sound on your device: nothing is recorded or uploaded.

Not sure where to start? Begin with the vocal range calculator: sing your lowest and highest notes to get your range in octaves, your closest voice type and the famous singers whose range is nearest to yours.

How to Get Accurate Results

The microphone tools detect pitch from your voice many times a second, and the range tools only save a note once you hold it steadily for about a second, so slides, cracks and background sounds don’t count. A few habits make the results much more reliable:

  • Warm up for a few minutes before testing your range.
  • Use a quiet room and keep the phone or laptop 30–50 cm from your mouth.
  • Sing a clear “ah” and hold each note; don’t push or strain for extreme notes.
  • Allow microphone access when your browser asks. If nothing happens, check the site’s microphone permission in your browser settings.
  • Test on two different days and trust the range you can repeat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these tools free?

Yes. All tools are free, with no account, no download and no limit on how often you use them.

Do the tools record my voice?

No. The sound from your microphone is analysed in your browser while you use the tool. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent to a server.

Do they work on a phone?

Yes. The tools are built for phones as well as computers and work in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox. Allow the microphone when asked.

How accurate is an online vocal range test?

For clear, steady notes the detected pitch is accurate to within a few cents, far less than one semitone. The bigger errors come from background noise, notes that are too quiet and testing without a warm-up.

What is the difference between vocal range and voice type?

Vocal range is the span from your lowest to your highest note. Voice type also depends on where your voice is comfortable, where it changes register and how it sounds, so two singers with the same range can be different types.

Where are the BPM, chord and audio calculators?

They have been retired so this site can focus on singing and voice tools. Their old addresses now lead to this page.
