What Cookies and Browser Storage Are
A cookie is a small piece of data that a website, or a service it uses, stores through your browser and reads back later. First-party cookies belong to the site you are visiting; third-party cookies belong to another service, such as an ad partner. Session cookies end when you close the browser, while persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
localStorage and sessionStorage are related browser features that keep data for one website without sending it with every request. Some sites use them to remember settings; our voice tools do not.
Google Analytics 4 Cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), installed through Google’s Site Kit plugin for WordPress, to see which pages are visited, how people arrive and which tools work well. A standard GA4 setup uses these first-party cookies:

Actual names and durations can vary with Google’s updates and your browser’s rules; some browsers cap cookie lifetimes. We do not send microphone audio or tool results to Google Analytics. Google handles this data under its own terms and privacy policy.
Advertising Cookies
Ads on VocalRangeCalculator.com are managed by Journey by Mediavine. When an ad loads, Journey by Mediavine and the advertising companies it works with may set or read cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to choose ads, cap how often you see the same ad, measure results, detect fraud and, where the law allows, show ads based on your interests. The Journey setup for this site also has audience measurement by comScore switched on.
The exact cookie names change often and depend on which partners serve an ad, so we do not list them here. Depending on where you live, Journey by Mediavine may show a consent message or a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” option; your choice is usually stored in your browser so it can be respected on later visits. Our Voice Tools Use No Cookies or Browser Storage
We checked the code of all 11 tools on the site on September 27, 2026. None of them sets a cookie or uses localStorage or sessionStorage, and none contains code that uploads audio or results. In practice:
- Results from the vocal range calculator, pitch and note detectors, voice type test and the other tools exist only in the open page and disappear when you reload or close it.
- The note detector can analyse an audio file you choose; your browser decodes it and nothing is uploaded.
- A result image is drawn in your browser and saved straight to your downloads.
- Share links from the vocal range calculator and the frequency to note converter keep the result after the # sign, which is part of the link, not a cookie.
- Copy buttons write to your clipboard only when you press them.
Hosting and Technical Cookies
The site is hosted by Hostinger and cached with LiteSpeed. Hosting, caching and security layers can set short-lived technical cookies, for example during a security check. When we tested the home page, a tool page and the privacy policy on September 27, 2026, the server set no cookies for ordinary visitors. WordPress login cookies are used only by the site administrator; visitors have no accounts.
Microphone Permission Is Not a Cookie
When a tool asks for your microphone, the permission is stored by your browser or operating system, not in a cookie. You can remove it in your browser’s site settings at any time. How the tools handle audio is explained on our Data Security page.
How to Control Cookies
- Browser settings: block third-party cookies, block all cookies for this site, or delete existing cookies. Menu names vary by browser.
- Clear site data: removes cookies and any stored choices for VocalRangeCalculator.com in one step.
- Ad privacy choices: use the consent message or privacy-choices option from Journey by Mediavine where it is shown.
- Industry opt-outs: the Digital Advertising Alliance (YourAdChoices) and the Network Advertising Initiative run opt-out pages for interest-based ads from participating companies.
- Google Analytics: Google offers the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on for supported desktop browsers.
- Private browsing: cookies are usually deleted when the last private window closes.
